Coming December 1 in Los Angeles, a performance of Act One of GOLDEN, a new musical about a strange confluence of cultures–the Polish musician and statesman Ignacy Paderewski and the diverse people of the Central Coast growing fields of California. Music by Nathan Wang, book and lyrics by me (Paula Cizmar). Presented courtesy of a grant from the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, awarded to us after an international competition. Though set in 1914, the story of clashing cultures and the political power of art is still timely. Maybe even more so. Also, check out the biography, PADEREWSKI IN CALIFORNIA, by Marek Zebrowski, for a fascinating look at the famous concert pianist and his love of Paso Robles.
